READING BY THIRD GRADE

 

OUTCOMES:

● The percentage of Multilingual Learners who demonstrate appropriate progress in WIDA language acquisition will increase by 7 percentage points (from 55% to 62%) from spring 2024 to spring 2025 as measured by Spring 2025 WIDA.

● The percentage of first - third grade students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding VALLSS benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025 as measured by the VALLSS screener.

 

STRATEGIES:

● Increase efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have daily access to all components of the language arts block as outlined in the new core curriculum.

● Increase use of data to plan instruction and monitor progress during intervention to ensure that students demonstrating risk master foundational skills.

● Increase intentional use of multisensory, visual, verbal, written and/or interactive scaffolds and supports in whole group settings.

 

 

 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH

 

OUTCOMES:

● By June 2025, the number of students with disabilities demonstrating expected within year growth will increase by 5% (from 41% to 46%) as measured by the iReady screener.

● By June 2025, the number of students in Grades 1-5 demonstrating expected within year growth will increase by 11% (from 49% to 60%) as measured by the iReady screener.

 

STRATEGIES:

● Increase formal collaboration between classroom teachers and ESOL teachers to develop the language of mathematics through the use of embedded strategies during whole group and small group instruction.

● Increase teacher's implementation strategies related to Shift 8: from looking for correct answers towards revealing student thinking.

● Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM

 

OUTCOMES:

● By June 2025, the chronic absenteeism rate at Glen Forest Elementary School will decrease from 13% to 9% to earn a level 1 SOA rating as evidenced by our school's chronic absenteeism data.

 

STRATEGIES:

● Teachers will use a variety of culturally-responsive practices and communication methods to provide supportive outreach to students and families when student attendance concerns arise.

● Teachers will promote student engagement and create a welcoming classroom environment by modeling social and emotional competencies in their interactions with students.

● MTSS Schoolwide and Site Intervention teams analyze attendance along with behavior and wellness data bi-monthly to identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. 

 

 

SCIENCE

 

OUTCOMES: 

● By June 2025, the percentage of fifth grade students demonstrating a passing score as measured by the Science SOL will increase by 7% (from 68% to 75%) as measured by the Spring Science SOL.

 

STRATEGIES: 

● Increase opportunities to develop science content vocabulary through inquiry-based learning, such as during the Explore of the 5E learning model, followed by explicit instruction during the Explain.

● Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs.

● Strengthen the use of scaffolds to support students’ development of rigorous science and engineering practices, including modeling scientific questioning, using graphic organizers.
