This week's spotlight is on Alex Bishop! Alex Bishop is an ESOL teacher at Glen Forest. Alex brings us a wealth of knowledge and background on working with our ESOL children. Although she is a very experienced teacher, Alex is always looking for ways to build her craft as an educator! She is truly a lifelong learner. We love having Alex Bishop with us at Glen Forest ES!

Staff Member: Alex Bishop

Year’s at Glen Forest ES: I have been teaching at Glen Forest for 18 years. 18 fast years!

Why do you love teaching at Glen Forest? I love teaching at Glen Forest because I love the international community. I am inspired by helping families support their kids in their learning. And of course, the kids are just wonderful. I have also lucked out at Glen Forest with several co-teachers who were incredible educators and I learned so much from them. I am a better person because of that. This includes my current triad and our SBTS!

Book you are currently reading:  In order to escape reality, I read science fiction. Currently, I am reading Unwind by Neil Schuster because my son who is 13 recommended it to me.

I am also reading The ELL Teachers Toolbox by Katie Hull Sypnieski and Larry Ferlazzo and a newly minted book called Reading and Writing with English Learners by Valentina Gonzalez and Melinda Miller. Here is a picture of the book:

Hobbies/Interests:  For fun I go walking with friends, work out like a maniac, kayak, read, and cook. I particularly enjoy cooking Asian food.
